Goals and the New Year
What are your goals going into the new year? Have you thought about this question yet? The end of the year for me brings self-reflection and self-improvements I want moving forward into the new year. This question should take some time to answer and should take you past the surface level shit. I’m talking goals with the mind, body and soul. Not just surface level goals.
“I want to get in better shape” that’s surface level shit. Setting goals should be made with intention and a map so to speak. Mapping with precision will help you to reach your goals. If you want to get in better shape, the goal is to get your fitness to another level to a level that you want it to be. Set attainable goals and a plan. “My goal is to gain X amount of muscle or lose X amount of fat by going to the gym 3-5 times a week and carving out time and being disciplined”. Fitness is just an example, but you should set attainable goals with a plan to get to said goal. If you want to lead 5.10s on gear, then you need a plan to get to this goal. Training, eating healthier, climbing. That’s how you’ll reach the goal. Being disciplined. I’ll be the first to admit that shits hard and I’ve even been slacking on being disciplined. The cold plunges have been helping with focus.
I got asked this question on a recent trip and it made me think. I haven’t set or made my goals yet for the new year. I am looking inward and seeing what my true goals are for the next year and practicing what I preach. I have personal goals and business goals. Personal goals for me are to create, sustain and maintain relationships. Romantic, family and friend relationships. These things are important to me, and I am self-reflecting on this on a deep level. I want to break old patterns, create new habits and be a better person overall on every level. Tearing back the layers to heal and grow and be better. That’s just one goal.
On a business level, my goal is growth. The goal is to expand and bring someone on likely this summer for part time work. These could be surface level because my brain needs to etch them on paper to bring them to life. Everyone’s mind is different. If I can create the goal, I can write down the steps to get to said goal. Transferring them from wishes to reality.
Self-reflect and tear down the ego. Create new habits and replace the old ones. Give yourself some grace. Shoutout to the homie for that one. Give yourself some grace. We all out here trying and doing the work to the best of our ability with the tools we got. Cheers to those who journey alongside us and here’s to a year of growth!
Just food for thought. Live this life with some intention. Thank you to everyone who reads these and for the support.
Happy holidays and Happy New Year!
